3CI PHD SUMMER SCHOOL: MIGRATION AND URBAN CHANGE (17-21 JULY 2017) -
EXTENDED APPLICATION DEADLINE!
The Center for Ethnic and Migration Studies (CIMIC) of the University of
Liège is glad to welcome applications for the third edition of the IMISCOE
3CI PhD Summer School ‘Migration and Urban Change'. The deadline for
applications is: *March 27*, 2017 - 12AM.
The third 3CI PhD Summer School Migration and Urban Change will focus on
the link between migration (old and new, in and out) and urban change,
specifically but not exclusively at the cultural and political level. The
lectures will address different issues related to the theme of the Summer
School. Furthermore, the Summer school will explicitly address two key
issues for PhD students: (1) how to get published?; (2) Ethical Issues in
Migration research. Finally, fieldwork will be organized in the
neighborhoods of the city.
The 3CI PhD Conference includes 5 days of intensive interdisciplinary
training by internationally recognised scholars for 30 selected PhD
students to support them with content, methodologies and critical
perspectives to conduct their research. Successful completion of the 3CI
PhD Conference can be awarded with 5 ECTS.
In 2017, the guest lectures are given by the following professors:
Prof. dr. *Bieter Bevelander* (Professor in International Migration and
Ethnic Relations (IMER) at MIM, Malmö Institute of Migration & Professor in
Diversity and Welfare and a senior lecturer at the School of IMER, Malmö
University).
Prof. *Hassan Bousetta* (Professor of Sociology and Politics at the
University of Liège, and member of the Center for Ethnic and Migration
Studies)
Prof. dr. *Godfried Engbersen* (Professor of Sociology at the Erasmus
University of Rotterdam and Researcher at the Erasmus University Research
Group on Citizenship, Migration and the City)
Prof. dr. *Marco Martiniello* (Professor of Sociology and Politics at the
University of Liège, and director of the Center for Ethnic and Migration
Studies)
Prof. dr. *Christiane Timmerman* (Professor of Anthropology at the
University of Antwerp and Director of the Centre for Migration and
Intercultural Studies)
Prof. dr. *Maurice Crul* (Professor of Sociology at the Free University in
Amsterdam, and at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, coordinator of the
international project: 'The Integration of the European Second Generation')
