Hi Vicki,

Thank you so much for your quick feedback, I have edited Q3. so that you can move to the next question without having to select a function and added hosted repositories and LMS as a sub-category under Q6. IT - Hosting/content.

If there are any other outsourced functions/services missing from the list please do let me know or select Other and the name of the function/service there.

All further feedback is welcome as it will help to improve this brief survey but also a more detailed survey I am planning on this topic.

Best wishes,

Lorraine

Hi Lorraine

I have just started your survey but on the 3rd question it is requiring you to tick something but what happens you do not out source anything - you cannot move on unless you tick something? Also the hosting question does content hosting include externally hosted repositories and LMS. I would reply to your email but I could not see it.

Regards

Vicki

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Survey: Outsourcing - Measuring the Status Quo!

Dear all,

I would be grateful if you can please assist my research by completing this brief survey to measure the status quo of outsourcing across UKSG members and the wider scholarly publishing community. The survey is expected to take no more than 5 minutes to complete.

I would like to thank you in advance if you do find time to complete the survey and to UKSG for permission to circulate this request. Please feel free to share this email and survey link to help expand its potential reach.

You may also be interested in learning that I am the Chair of a workshop entitled Outsourcing Challenges, with 3 sessions to be held next week during the R2R Conference on Monday 20th and Tuesday 22nd February at the BMA in London<https://r2rconf.com/programme/>.

Workshop question posed:

What aspects of the scholarly communications process can be outsourced, how can risks be mitigated and how can outsourcing be most effectively managed?

With forecasts pointing to an increase in outsourcing, we ask what services in scholarly publishing will be fully or partially outsourced by 2020. This workshop will address the challenges involved and aim to identify key strategies that can help to mitigate the risks and improve the process, experience and outcome for all those involved.
