External examiners - Masters in Law at the University of Cumbria
We are seeking to appoint external examiners for our suite of LLM Masters in law pathways.
LLM International Criminal Law
The prosecution of international crimes in an international and domestic context
Substantive international crimes and rules of procedure
LLM Information Technology and International Communications Law
Innovation, Technology, Copyright and Trademark Law
Media and Communications Regulation
These programmes are proposed to begin in September 2017.
Students on each of the LLM pathways will study three common modules together:
• LAWS 7110 Advanced Methods in Legal Research (20 credits)
This module is assessed by a research paper in an area of specialization
• LAWS 7114 Practical Lawyering through Alternative Dispute Resolution (20 credits)
This module is assessed by way of practical and written advocacy in an area of international law
• LAWS 7118 Masters research project (60 credits)
This is a significant piece of research which students will undertake with support from their supervisor. The focus of this project must be on an area of specialisation and should be completed within 15,000 words
Requirements
• Experience of external examining at PG level in law
• Subject knowledge expertise
• Teaching and assessment experience in HE
• Practical experience in law, especially in the context of alternative dispute resolution and courtroom skills would be desirable
• Practical knowledge of writing opinion pieces and portfolio based assessments would be desirable
