Dear List,
I am writing to inform you about the Paul Mellon Centre’s current Drawing Room Display: ‘The Price of War’ : Recording, Publishing and Preserving Art, 1939-1945.
The display focusses on items created between 1938 and 1949 and explores the exhibition, publication, protection, destruction and restitution of art in wartime. It is not a comprehensive look at this period but rather an exploration of these themes through individual items in the Centre’s archive and library collections. It also demonstrates the intrinsically multi-faceted nature of archive and library collections that although originally preserved for one reason, may in future serve to highlight another.
We are keen for anybody who may be interested in the display to visit it. It is free and open Monday to Friday 10am - 5pm at 16 Bedford Square, London. For more details please see our website: http://www.paul-mellon-centre.ac.uk/whats-on/forthcoming/art-war-display.
Please do pass this information on to anyone you feel may be interested.
Many thanks, and we hope to see you at the Centre.
