The first meeting of the Warwick R User Group will take place on Thursday 19th January 2017 at 15:00–16:00 in the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick.
Warwick R User Group will meet semi-regularly (tentatively every other Thursday) to discuss and hear talks on R-related topics, including interesting packages (and how to make your own) and tips and tricks on using R for data science and reproducible research. Meetings will take place at the University of Warwick and are open to anybody from Warwickshire and the West Midlands region, regardless of previous statistics or R programming experience.
In our inaugural session we will introduce ourselves, get to know one another and plan the forthcoming programme of events. We will then hear a series of 'lighting talks', each no longer than 5–10 minutes, highlighting tips or R packages that the speakers find useful or interesting. Baked goods will be provided!
Introductory talks this week will include:
* "Cleverly copying commands from the console" — Lewis Rendell (Statistics, Warwick)
* "Procrastinating in R: emoji plots with emoGG" — Ale Avalos (OxWaSP)
* "An introduction to Shiny" — Nathan Cunningham (OxWaSP)
Date: Thursday 19th January
Time: 1500–1600
Venue: Statistics Common Room (C0.06), Zeeman Building, University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7AL.
