Dear BRITARCH list members
Development-led or "preventive" archaeology was the theme of a conference of the European Association of Archaeologists held in Vilnius in 2016. Historic England contributors Steve Trow and Tim Allen distilled aspects of the English experience of development-led archaeology in two papers. Steve Trow's paper is a realistic SWOT analysis of the great benefits and also the challenges, whilst Tim Allen's focusses on the importance of early involvement of archaeological curators in development plans.
You can now access the papers for free from the University of Ljubljana website. https://knjigarna.ff.uni-lj.si/si/izdelek/1707/recent-developments-in-preventive-archaeology-in-europe/ To download the volume from that page, click where is says "prelistaj".
Please do feel free pass on the link to any colleagues or students who will be interested in them.
