We are seeking a statistician to contribute to collaborative work between the MRC Biostatistics Unit and the UKCRC Centre for Diet and
Activity Research (CEDAR). This will involve developing Value of
Information methods by applying them within health impact assessment
(HIA) models.
Value of Information is a Bayesian decision-theoretic method used to guide model development by a) identifying which parts of the model have the greatest impact on the result or decision arising from the model, b) assessing the potential value of obtaining further data to reduce uncertainties.
The work relates to the development of the ITHIM tool (http://www.cedar.iph.cam.ac.uk/research/modelling/ithim/), used in several research projects and policy applications in UK, USA and elsewhere in the world. ITHIM estimates health risks and benefits of transport related scenarios by taking into account changes in physical activity, injuries and air pollution exposure.
