Applications for STARTUP RESEARCH are now open!
STARTUP RESEARCH is a 2-day workshop where small groups of young
statisticians, advised by senior researchers, will be asked to develop
innovative methods and models to analyze a common dataset, with the
goal of answering scientific questions arising from an applied
problem.
This scientific event aims at playing as a stimulator of research and
it represents a great opportunity for interaction, sharing ideas and
promoting the discussion. As a result, methodological and applied
contributions to the statistical literature will be expected following
the workshop.
Senior researchers leading the groups are: Alessio Farcomeni (Sapienza
Università di Roma), Alan Gelfand (Duke University), Alessandra Luati
(Università of Bologna), Antonietta Mira (Università della Svizzera
italiana), Piercesare Secchi (Politecnico di Milano), Marian Scott
(University of Glasgow), and Ernst Wit (University of Groningen).
Early career researchers in Statistics and Data Science are invited to
apply for attending the meeting. Online application must be submitted
by March 31, 2017.
STARTUP RESEARCH will be held on June 25-27, 2017 at the Antica
Certosa di Pontignano,
(http://www.lacertosadipontignano.com/en/certosa/certosa.php), near to
Siena in Tuscany, a unique place where nature, history and hospitality
blend together.
The event is a satellite meeting of the Intermediate Scientific
Meeting of the Italian Statistical Society on "Statistics and Data
Science: new challenges, new generations" that will be held on June
28-30, 2017 at the University of Florence.
