Colleagues,

We are looking for a Subject Librarian to join our growing team at Bath Spa University as a job share. It is an exciting time of expansion for the University and we are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking professional.

About us

Bath Spa University’s vision is to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. We offer you the best of everything. A modern, forward-thinking university based in a city steeped in heritage, our stunning working environment is full of people with talent and energy. We combine a focus on transforming the lives of our students with a commitment to developing the careers of our staff.

Our dedicated Library & Learning Services team support teaching, learning and research in collaboration with staff and students. We aim to deliver a seamless experience across the University providing excellent digital and physical resources to our staff and students whilst providing environments that encourage study, learning and creativity.

About the role

In this job share role you will support the University’s Institute for Education and the Field of Writing and Performance within our College of Liberal Arts. You will co-ordinate and deliver innovative Information and Digital Literacy sessions to students and staff as well as being responsible for dynamic, cross-disciplinary collection development and management of Library and Learning Services budgets in relation to your allocated subjects. You will be able to take an active role in departmental projects and working groups to help us to provide a responsive and ever improving experience for our users.

Working as a key member of the Library & Learning Services team, you will take a leading role in the planning, management and development of library resources to improve staff and student engagement at Newton Park and work in collaboration with colleagues in campus libraries at Sion Hill and Corsham Court. Working as an integral part of the Subject Librarian team you will have the opportunity to be directly involved in the shaping of library policy and practice as we look to respond dynamically to the needs of the University during an exciting phase of its development.

About you (requirements)

Together with a degree or postgraduate qualification in librarianship - or a related discipline - you have a track record of delivering quality, innovative Information and/or Digital Literacy provision, ideally in Higher Education. We will expect you to demonstrate excellent communication skills, budgetary experience and practical problem-solving.

We are looking for someone with strong team working values and experience who is organised and committed to the professional development of themselves and others. Crucially, you are an energetic, dedicated professional who is enthusiastic about the role of the Librarian in learning enhancement and teaching and focused on providing the highest level of support to students and staff.
