Hammersmith Arts and Crafts are running a HLF funded project in partnership between the Emery Walker Trust and the William Morris Trust, both based in Hammersmith, London W6. (see links for further information www.emerywalker.org.uk www.williammorrissociety.org.uk).
Part of the project involves cataloguing and digitising the papers of Sir Emery Walker, Engraver, Photographer, Printer, Typographer and his family using Modes for Windows; the project is based at Emery Walker's house, no 7 Hammersmith Terrace, which has recently been refurbished as part of the same project.
We are looking for two new olunteers to join a team of four other volunteers, one to start in December and another in January, one day a week Monday or Thursday (one volunteer on each day), hours are 10am to 4pm, reasonable travelling expenses will be paid.
Full training will be given, it's an excellent opportunity for those wishing to gain experience in Archives prior to attending one of the courses. There will also be a chance to get involved in outreach activities.
The ideal candidates will have excellent IT skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office; familiarity with the digitisation process would also be useful as well as basic archives principles; they will need to have good attention to detail and be prepared to work on their own as well as part of a team.
Please send a CV, stating also your reasons for applying, via email; informal interviews will be held sometime in the next two weeks. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
