Is there a standard method of sampling small mammal carcasses? I am working with
Simon Jackson at Carlisle's Tullie House Museum and one of my duties is to deal
with the freezer full of red squirrels. They are obviously an important
collection, but there are too many for me to deal with. I thought it might be a
good idea to sample the more damaged/decomposed ones - maybe a few bones and a
patch of fur - and make study skins from the better ones. Is there a standard
procedure for this kind of sampling?
