PhD opportunity!
We have a project within the GW4 BioMedical Doctoral Training Partnership funded by the MRC. The ‘GW4 BioMed MRC DTP’ is awarding up to 20 studentships in 2017, aligned with the themes of Infection, Immunity and Repair; Neuroscience and Mental Health; and Population Health. The DTP places a strong emphasis on cross-cutting skills priorities (quantitative skills, interdisciplinary skills and in vivo skills).
Towards personalised behavioural obesity treatment in children and adolescents
This project will identify effective measures to characterise obesity-related eating behaviours in children recruited from a hospital clinic and community, such as impulsive over-eating, eating fast or large portions. We will develop tailored interventions provided as ‘apps’, and assess their effects using brain imaging and experimental psychology.
Lead Supervisor: Dr Elanor Hinton
Lead Institution: Bristol.

The GW4 BioMed MRC DTP brings together the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter to develop the next generation of biomedical researchers. Students have access to the combined research strengths, training expertise and resources of the four research-intensive universities with opportunities to participate in interdisciplinarity and ‘team science’.
The DTP welcomes students from non-medical backgrounds and can fund additional training to assist discipline conversion.
Most studentships will be 3.5 years full time or up to 7 years part-time, and can be longer where additional training is undertaken.
