Reminder
After Independence: India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Thursday 17 November, 15.30 - 16:30, S1 Seminar Room, Alison Richard Building, 7 West Road, Cambridge, CB3 9DT.
Abstract: How did India, Pakistan and Bangladesh feature in commercial, governmental and ethnographic visual records made post-Independence and what were the political agendas that influenced their representation? This lecture explores such questions and includes a selection of British, American, Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi visual records that are discussed in a comparative analysis with contemporary history text books.
This seminar is part of the Visual rhetoric and Modern South Asian history series (Michaelmas 2016) that offers practical and theoretical approaches to old and new media literacies required when exploring the visual dimension of modern South Asian history. The series is hosted by the Centre of South Asian Studies.
All welcome. Please circulate to others who may be interested and contact me directly at [log in to unmask] if you would like to attend.
