Reminder CSAS seminar Partition: politics, memory and identity, Thursday 10 November, 12:00 - 13:00pm, S1 Seminar Room, Alison Richard Building, 7 West Road, Cambridge, CB3 9DT.
Abstract: Following the seminar on The Indian National Movement, this seminar proposes a comparative analysis of selected visual records, interviews and private papers documenting several fictionalised narratives as well as first-hand experiences of the Partition. The talk includes sub-thematic strands that look at gender, military and diplomatic conflict. Participants might find some of the images disturbing.
This seminar is part of the Visual rhetoric and Modern South Asian history series (Michaelmas 2016) that offers practical and theoretical approaches to old and new media literacies required when exploring the visual dimension of modern South Asian history.
All welcome. Please circulate to others who may be interested and contact me directly at [log in to unmask] if you would like to attend.
