Hi Matt,
Thank you very much for your quick response. Kindly I have the following followup question:
In the first level of the analysis, when I click the Go button, FEAT creates a design.mat (attached) and design.con. Then FEAT feed this design o the script "film_gls" later in the first level of the analysis.
I can't understand how FEAT generates this design matrix? I highly appreciate any explanation here. What is this design (is it the header data), and how FEAT generate it?
Thank you very much
Jon
Hello Jon,
design.mat contains the model you wish to test, the numerical data is formatted with one column per regressor, one row per timepoint, so a single column of ones would test the global mean - this is almost always an entirely spurious test for first-level analyses. If you are creating design matrices by hand, you need to pass the raw numerical text file through Text2Vest to add some header data, please see
http://fsl.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fsl/fslwiki/GLM/CreatingDesignMatricesByHand
for more details, although it is normally best to use the FEAT/GLM Gui to create these designs.
Hope this helps,
Kind Regards
Matthew
