Seminar Series
“Migrants in Countries in Crisis: Emerging Findings from Research on Six Crisis Situations”
This seminar will present findings from ongoing research collected for the EU-funded project "Migrants in Countries in Crisis: Supporting an Evidence-based Approach for Effective and Cooperative State Action."
The research focuses on how crises affect migrants in host countries, their households at home and abroad, as well as their countries of origin in myriad ways, with an emphasis on long-term implications for development.
The seminar will present emerging findings on case studies of humanitarian crises in six host countries over the past two decades – Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Lebanon, Libya, South Africa and Thailand.
We will then turn to an in-depth discussion of the socio-economic implications of the Libyan crisis on Egyptian returnees.
