Tim - 'tangle' - the euphemism of the month for what I consider an abusive barrage, but sure it's not your quarrel.
For the two questions:
1) "Is there anything I've said which you take issue with?"
Not really, no - you make a fair case for seeing song as indistinguishable from poem, in any respects that matter to you. As for the respects that matter to me, and these concern both the way poems are presented via song and the way we respond to them, I think I've expressed clearly enough in the last but one email I addressed to you, as well as throughout this exchange.
2) "...are you still of the opinion that song lyrics are not on a par with literature as it should be known, or however you wish to express it?"
Here it gets trickier. Throughout the exchange I've made it clear, with examples respectively from Ariel's song to the Blues, that songs can be poems, and that (some) songs can quite satisfyingly be read as we read poems. (In the case of Dylan, some great phrases and lines, but I'm still of the view that, for the most part, shorn of his extraordinary voice and the accompaniment, they mostly read as bad poetry.) I should also like to rephrase your 'on a par with' which suggests a kind of hierarchy of art forms, something I am, and have long been, opposed to and it's a misreading of my argument that I've taken pains to dispel.
