Completely off the subject but coincidental, but that's where W Pritchard Morgan, the 'Welsh Gold King' made his mark as a lawyer, mining speculator and newspaper proprietor in the 1874-83 period. One of his most controversial cases was when he tried to 'gag' the Northern Miner by bringing a case against its proprietor Thadeus O'Kane initially for libel and then for 'breach of peace' under a statute 522 years old and dating back to Edward III. TROVE will find you numerous articles about the case in the Northern Miner between 9 May and 28 November 1882.
Donald Hector Johnson's excellent paper 'To Silence a Jackdaw gagging the 'Northern Miner' , Journal of the Royal Historical Society of Queensland, vol 15, no2, Feb 1994, pp.299-312 (http://www.textqueensland.com.au/item/article/ede2e5f38b0f18fbd33098fffd257d50) is a fascinating read, characterising Morgan as a 'shyster, womaniser and of doubtful professional provenance'. The case provided the spur for Morgan to quit Queensland and return to Britain in March 1883, and there start again on his shady activities, at Readwin's expense, in Gwynfynydd.

It shows various head-frames, chimneys, water towers and waste heaps in a very flat landscape, in what appears to be a renovated operation. (New offices, fences, roadways etc.). A general store is called ‘Jang Lun Kee’, and the entrance sign might say ‘E. Lawrence Wilder’. Photo probably 1930s? There is white goat nibbling at something on the side of the road. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where this might be? We are trying to trace an appropriate home for them.
