Dear Mayer,
I think that reliable evidence is missing because
vaccine safety research is missing in several important areas,
as I outlined here: http://www.bmj.com/content/352/bmj.i867/rr-7
SDM (shared decision making) does not exist with reference to vaccines.
From my experience vaccines are not discussed in academic forums,
instead it is condoned that vaccines are controlled by lobbying,
and over 300 vaccines are lining up: http://www.abpi.org.uk/media-centre/newsreleases/2016/Pages/World-Immunisation-Week-Parliamentarians-highlight-value-of-vaccines-to-UK.aspx
As a result, I am concerned that we now have a greater burden of disease
from (chronic) non-communicable diseases (NCD)
than that from the vaccine prevented (short lived) infections.
Best regards,
Dr W Havinga, locum GP, Gloucestershire, UK
@wouterhavinga
I am interested in normalising common illnesses.
Medicine focuses on symptom control rather than the developmental benefits from disease.
Infectious diseases ("Virolution" & microbiome) and life events (Salutogenesis)
can have developmental benefits but instead medicine stigmatizes patients
with labels.
