The BFI is the lead organisation for film in the UK. We are a Government arm’s length body and a distributor of Lottery Funds for film. We are in the process of investing in our property assets to make operations more efficient. Key practicalities of this project include vacating space in our Stephen Street building and providing a successful agile working environment for staff. We are looking to recruit a Records Manager who will play a key role in facilitating/ensuring the success of this project. They will be responsible for reviewing current working practices at the BFI, in order to develop and implement an organisation-wide records management programme.
The role will be accountable for ensuring that the infrastructure, policy and procedures are in place to deliver the programme. It will also be responsible for supporting and working with staff across the organisation to embed good records management, ensuring that all records – paper and electronic, created in the past, present and future –are available and accessible when required and are managed in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and have a recognised post graduate degree in archives/records management. A proven track record in implementing a records management programme within a complex organisational environment is essential. A good working knowledge of records management standards, such as ISO 15489 as well as experience of working with both paper and electronic records; developing policies and procedures; and ensuring compliance with data protection, freedom of information and other legislative requirements are also vital. Excellent communication, strong influencing and persuading skills are essential. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and confident working alone or as part of a team.
