Google has a 'My Activity' function, and if you've got a Google account, it stores a lot of information on what you're doing. Not just on Google Search, but in Google Chrome, or on your phone. So if you run searches, if you go onto eBay, if you look at different websites, Google keeps a note of it. If you use the 'OK Google' function on your smartphone to ask questions, Google not only keeps that information, but it keeps a recording of what you actually said, and in some instances will transcribe it for you.
Some people may find this particularly unsettling, others will find it useful - in my opinion it's annoying both unsettling AND useful! I've put together a quick (7 minute) video on what happens, and how you can delete stuff from it. It's available at:

Hope that you find it useful. Feel free to share it if you wish (and to be entirely transparent there's a brief advert at the end for my courses!)
Phil.
