Hi all,
If you use ezProxy, there is an option in the ezproxy settings here: http://www.oclc.org/support/services/ezproxy/documentation/cfg/optionrequireauthenticate.en.html .
We have this set up so that if you want to test an ezproxy resource, go to http://ezproxy.uwe.ac.uk/auth and you’ll see a ‘Force Authentication’ page where you can tell EZproxy to treat your browser as external for either the current session or permanently. Re-visiting the page allows you to switch this behaviour off again.
It does the same as adding specific IP addresses to the config except that you don’t have to worry about your IP address changing periodically and you can also compare external with UWE based access by using two different browsers.
Cheers,
Ted

Hello Angus,
A couple of places I have worked have used an internet dongle (not sure if that is the right word) and laptop to check external access. I am wondering if connecting to a mobiles internet would have the same effect?
Hope this helps,
Samantha
