Would you like to join an ambitious and forward looking unit of analysts, researchers and data experts?
The Greater London Authority (GLA) relies on the Intelligence Unit to provide high quality data and analysis to inform policy and delivery in one of the world’s truly global cities. You will be part of a 6-person GIS team, using desktop and web-based GIS in creative and innovative ways to help colleagues in the Intelligence Unit, the wider GLA or external partners.
As well as creating engaging visualisations to explain and promote the work of the GLA, you will have the opportunity to work on high profile GIS analysis projects such as the Schools Atlas (https://maps.london.gov.uk/schools/) and the award winning London DataStore (http://data.london.gov.uk/).
In return, we are looking for someone who has detailed knowledge of Geographic Information Systems in practical use and can provide evidence of commitment to keep abreast of new development. You will also be able to think creatively about how your team’s products and services will fit into emerging agendas like big data and smart cities. A key part of the role is to continue and enhance the GIS team’s work with the wider group of 70+ staff who create and use mapping. We are looking for someone who enjoys communicating effectively with staff from other professions at various levels within the organisation and who can add something to the projects that they are involved in.
