Hi all,
The Film, Sound & Photography Section (FSPS) of the Archives and Records Association is pleased to announce a half-day, FREE training event on 25th October 2016, held at Essex Record Office (ERO).
You Are Hear: A Practical Introduction to Sound Archives will feature both a case study and a practical workshop. The case study, presented by Sarah Joy Maddeaux (Project Archivist, ERO), will detail the work involved launching You Are Hear, a three-year project to digitise, catalogue, and make available many of the historically significant sound and video recordings in the ERO’s Essex Sound and Video Archive (ESVA). Following this, Martin Astell (Senior Archivist [Sound and Video], ERO) will oversee a practical workshop in the digitisation studio at ERO introducing equipment, and some of the practicalities of handling and digitising sound recordings.
This event is for archivists interested in managing sound collections. The aim is to inspire as much as to educate, and archivists of all levels and experience should find something rewarding from its content.
The programme for the event is as follows:
09.45-10.00 Registration (refreshments provided)
10.00-10.45 Case Study (You Are Hear project, Sarah Joy Maddeaux)
10.45-11.15 Tea
11.15-12:30 Practical Workshop in Digitisation Studio at ERO
12.30-13:00 Q&A
Places for this event are limited, so make sure to book quickly via Eventbrite - http://bit.ly/2bVQbC3
Thank you,
David Baldwin
