A great opportunity for a Research Assistant with experience in
statistics to join a rapidly expanding global team.
LSTM is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for
research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links
with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to
the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health,
particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest
countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
Within LSTM the Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health (CMNH) is a
leading global centre of research excellence, which aims to improve
the availability and quality of healthcare for mothers and babies and
contribute to a global reduction in maternal and newborn mortality and
morbidity. Due to the recognised success and impact of our work, we
are now looking to recruit a Research Assistant (Statistics) to become
a part of our internationally recognised team and help manage the
expanding portfolio of work for CMNH.
Reporting to the Senior Statistician, you will work as part of the
CMNH team and support quantitative data processing and statistical
analysis from projects with large datasets from multiple sites. Your
primary function will be to provide statistical advice to both staff
and students relating to study design and data analysis and to
contribute to the design and research protocols and standard operating
procedures relating to analysis of data across all CMNH studies.
Ideal candidates will be have a BSc in statistics/maths or computer
science, coupled with a demonstrable track record of working on
project data. You must also have experience of managing research
databases including cleaning, analysing and reporting – knowledge of
using Stata or SPSS is essential. Effective interpersonal,
communication and problem solving skills are a must, as is your
ability to meet deadlines, work co-operatively and productively within
a team, as well as on your own initiative.
Although this post is based in Liverpool, overseas travel may be required.
