The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences of Heriot Watt University is internationally renowned in actuarial science and financial risk through the world-leading research activities of its Department of Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics. The School is a partner of the Scottish Financial Risk Academy, founded in 2010 by a consortium led by Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh and comprising several member companies. The School is also a constituent part of the Maxwell Institute, an international centre of excellence, based in Edinburgh, covering the whole range of the mathematical science.

We have an exciting opportunity for a leading researcher to join us as a Chair of Quantitative Financial Risk. As part of this role you will take a leadership position within the Scottish Financial Risk Academy, to advance its significance and reach and promote new activities within the finance sector and academic institutions. You will have the opportunity to take part in other ongoing research initiatives, such as the Actuarial Research Centre and the Maxwell Institute Centre for Doctoral Training in Mathematical Analysis and its Applications (MIGSAA). You will also be able to contribute to develop and expand our successful postgraduate programmes in Financial Risk.
