Position: GIS Officer
Location: Cambridge; Shire Hall
Salary: £32,500 - £35,950
“Everything happens somewhere” - and that really applies in Local Government. We use GIS technology to drive efficiencies, make cost savings, effectively deliver services as well as supporting essential statutory functions. Mapping systems deliver to the public via web and to internal staff via desktop tools and powerful intranet applications.
We are looking for an enthusiastic GIS Officer to join our IT Strategy team to work with Council colleagues to find new ways of using GIS approaches, and to develop and help deliver solutions that use location data.
Liaison with a wide range of staff and contacts is essential, so great interpersonal skills are vital, as well as technical experience with MapInfo, (skills with other GIS tools, particularly QGIS, will be useful). Working with OS data is a given, and you should be able to step into the Principal PSMA Contact role for Cambridgeshire.
You will be passionate about GIS, customer focussed, and willing to sell the benefits of the tools and technology to colleagues.
