It is so deeply worrying that such practices are still happening in a
country where some of us from the Global South have been made to
believe that significant strides have been made towards equal rights
for all. Equally saddening for me is the apparent deafening silence on
the part of the usually vocal critics of such inhuman and
discriminatory practices, who are on this mailing list. I do sincerely
hope that the silence has nothing to do with the fact that this is not
a white, male individual whose human rights are being violated by an
institution of such stature and prestige as Oxford, who should know
better.
