With the implementation of Alma as our new library management system in January 2016 and the forthcoming move to a new Library and Student Services Centre in Autumn 2017, Library Services at Royal Holloway, University of London is going through an exciting period of development and change. As a result of these two major projects, which offer the opportunity to re-shape and develop our services, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated individual to the new role of Book Acquisitions Coordinator. Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions and Content Delivery and based in the busy Acquisitions and Content Delivery Team, the post holder will help to reshape workflows in the book ordering operation and to develop new workflows to manage our growing ebook collections.
The role will work closely with the Head of Acquisitions and Content Delivery and with the Journals and Subscriptions Coordinator to develop excellence in the acquisitions and content delivery service and to provide leadership and coordination to a team of Information Assistants. The role includes responsibility for coordinating the work of Information Assistants, including line management of two posts, monitoring book supplier performance, ensuring that acquisitions targets and quality standards are met, liaising with cataloguing and metadata colleagues. The role also has specific responsibility for day to day management of the ebook collections and for ensuring that these are discoverable by library users.
To apply for this post you will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, ideally with a postgraduate qualification in a library and information science discipline. You will have substantial experience of working in an acquisitions or eresources management role. You should be a skilled and confident communicator, customer-focussed and a flexible team player. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work both independently and as a team member. Accuracy and a methodical approach are essential, along with flexibility, good ICT skills and a genuine interest in contributing to the delivery of quality services to students and staff. Full training and development will be offered to enable you to contribute fully to our service.
