Hi everyone
The deadline for submissions to the consultation on the NICE quality standard for Community Engagement: Improving Health and Wellbeing is 5pm next Monday (22nd August).
https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/GID-QS10013/documents/draft-quality-standard
I don't recall it being discussed on this list. Has anyone responded?
A local activist who is organising against cuts to health services here in Shropshire said to me about their fight: 'Their current theory is that there’s no need for actual services, because community resilience and social capital will see us through instead. A kind of DIY approach to health and social care. I’m convinced of social and economic inequality being major determinants of health and ill health, but the idea that we can all be good neighbours and thereby do without doctors, nurses, therapists and carers, that I'm less convinced of'. It strikes me that this NICE document seems aimed at encouraging just that.
I'd be interested to hear any thoughts.
Best wishes
Penny
