With high resolution digital printing and archival, 100% cotton inkjet papers it is now possible to create convincing, lightfast and affordable facsimiles of documents, photographs, manuscripts, prints and even vellum scrolls for display and handling. This is especially useful when original material is light-sensitive, fragile or otherwise only on temporary loan.
Artworks Conservation have experience in providing this service for museums, libraries and archives. We have access to high resolution scanning and an A0 photographic copystand or can work with your own digital files to print on a range of archival papers including letter weight papers of 100gsm or less. As an established paper conservation studio, all material is handled and stored with care.
Recent projects have included creating facsimiles of documents for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, complete with replica wax seals, as well as bound copies of a Stanley Spencer sketchbook for The Hepworth Wakefield and documents for The Brotherton Library at Leeds University.
