Hi Philippa
The quick tips I'd give you are:
Include the hashtag loads and advertise across all your social media platforms
Consider what you choose as a hashtag - the shorter the better (more room for tweet content / replies) but not too vague ie #Brexit or #science will have loads of people using them and you might get lost in the noise
Think about retweeting / liking people's content that uses your hashtag (even if it doesn't mention you) - some users like the warm glow of recognition!
