JOB DESCRIPTION: Izmir University of Economics, Department of Industrial Design is currently seeking applicants for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in the field. Applicants are expected to be enthusiastic designers and academics with an established knowledge of industrial design and broad expertise in design thinking where design theory takes place in various areas of design practice. An interest in current trends in professional practices and/or academic design applications is also essential. This expertise can have been acquired through industrial experience and/or academic research. The applicants should have a relevant Masters degree, or equivalent and preferably a PhD with a track record of publication/exhibition. Applicants will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels that are connected to the areas of Industrial Design, as well as participating in the curriculum development.
INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS: Being the first undergraduate industrial design program within the region, the Department of Industrial Design at the Izmir University of Economics offers a Bachelors of Design degree in Industrial Design. Department of Industrial Design has academic members with a rich variety of various disciplines ranging from industrial, urban and interior designers to textile and mechanical engineers with a wide scope of research interests. While being introduced to the cultural, historical and methodological aspects of the profession, students also experience the fundamental tools of designing like computers, machinery and tools, as well as presentation and research techniques. The purpose of the academic position is to have the possibility to develop and lead multi and inter-disciplinary teaching, research and professional design activities. The department provides education in bachelor, and contributes to the Design Studies, Yacht Design and Design Management in graduate level and a Design Studies PhD.
