Moving from Impact to Value

Recent socio-economic developments have placed increased pressure on higher education and cultural organisations to demonstrate the impact of their digital resources and initiatives. The associated emphasis on quantitative indicators raises concerns about the difficulties of capturing the real value of cultural resources, and the complex and multifaceted ways in which they affect diverse users.

Should we move away from recording impact and focus our efforts more on capturing the value of cultural collections? What are the implications for sustainability and strategy in this process? And how can this be implemented in practice, incorporating rich qualitative data but maintaining robustness and ensuring comparability in our analysis?
