Dear Gemland
If your museum has any collections relating to sport, or links with local sports
clubs (at any/all level/s) you will be interested to find out more about
National Sporting Heritage Day 2016:
http://www.nationalsportingheritageday.org.uk/whats-on/
The Day also has a Facebook page of the same name, so please do "like" it and
you'll get updates on progress towards the event.
I'm flagging this up now in order to give everyone plenty of time to consider
putting on events and also uploading them to the website above.
Whatever your personal attitude towards "sports" it is undoubtedly a very
powerful way in which to engage audiences in culture and learning.Links with
local professional sports clubs might even result in identifying new sources of
funding to help you with your community engagement work.
If you are members of the Twitterati please go follow @sportinghistory and tweet
your thoughts and ideas widely.
In the coming weeks and months you will be hearing more about this from me as I
am managing the social media feeds for the Sport in Museums Network for a while.
There are nations and regions coordinators for the Sport in Museums Network.
I'll get details out asap.
For my Welsh-speaking Wales contacts: mae rhaid i fi ymddiheuro am yr ebost yn
