Hi all,
As you may know, Techniquest runs Science Alliance Cymru - a free, informal networking event for those who work in science communication and allied fields (including learned societies, universities and industry) across Wales.
SAC events provide an opportunity for those involved with Welsh science and its engagement to meet one another, share ideas and learn from each other's experience.
The next Science Alliance Cymru event is on Wednesday 29th June from 4:30-7pm at Cardiff Metropolitan University (Llandaff Campus), Western Avenue, Cardiff, CF5 2YB.
Following refreshments, the event will include:
A tour of the microbiology labs at Cardiff Met
A chance to receive exclusive insight into the workings of one of Cardiff Met's main areas of front-line biomedical research.
Barriers to STEM Engagement: First Campus secondary schools - Helen Obee Reardon
First Campus' mission is to increase access to higher education to learners from South East Wales. As STEM coordinator for First Campus, Helen will be talking about her work and experience in this field.
Cardiff Met Microbiology Outreach Activities - Helen Brown
A chance to get hands-on with Cardiff Met's microbiology themed outreach activities. Biofilm models, agar plates and fluffy microbes for all!
Microbiology Wales outreach - Sarah Maddocks & Ben Johns
Sarah and Ben will introduce an activity they have previously run as part of Biology Week and National Science and Engineering Weekend. Which microorganisms are lurking on your personal belongings? Prepare to be swabbed!
These events are free and open to anyone, so please feel free to bring along an interested friend or colleague. Please email [log in to unmask] to confirm your attendance.
Thanks,
Tom Lloyd.
