Dear List members
We are advertising 1 PhD position and 1 post doctoral fellow at the Department of Earth Science, University of Bergen and the Institut des Sciences de la Terre, Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble within the field of 2D and 3D geodynamic modeling of mountain building-foreland fold and thrust belt formation linked with surface processes.
The positions are for a period of three years and are affiliated to the collaborative project, “Coupling Lithosphere Deformation with Surface Processes and Stratigraphy (COLORS)” involving the universities of Bergen, Toulouse, Grenoble, GFZ, Barcelona, Rennes, and Total.
* The PhD position will be based at Bergen University (R. Huismans) with extended secondments at the Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble, France (P. van der Beek).
* The post doc position will be based at Université Grenoble Alpes (P. van der Beek), with extended secondments at University of Bergen (R. Huismans)

PhD position, Department of Earth Science, University of Bergen:
The successful candidate will be responsible for using coupled 2D and 3D tectonic-surface process models to understand the evolution of orogenic-foreland-fold and thrust belt systems focusing on the relative importance of rheological structure, surface processes, extensional inheritance in natural settings such as the Pyrenees and the Andes. The successful applicant will be mainly based at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Bergen, working with Professor Ritske Huismans. Extended secondments and work visits at the University of Grenoble, France (Professor van der Beek) and with Total Pau will be part of the project.

Post doctoral fellow, Institut des Sciences de la Terre, Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble
The post-doctoral fellow will develop a fully integrated study of the complete orogen/foreland basin system, from the eroding mountain belt that delivers erosional products, through the intermediate fluvial transport system, to the evolving foreland fold-and-thrust belt and foreland basin. The successful candidate will integrate information from each of these sub-components of the evolving source-to-sink system, as well as the underlying tectonic deformation of the orogen and its foreland, in coupled 2D and 3D models, and datasets from the Pyrenean foreland and/or the Argentinian/Bolivian Andes, provided by TOTAL.
The successful applicant will be mainly based at the Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble (Professor van der Beek) working with Professor Peter van der Beek. Extended secondments and work visits at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Bergen and with Total Pau will be part of the project.
