Dear colleagues,
you might have heard about the worrying situation in France. State of
Emergency, neoliberal reform of the labor law, police violence against
protests, all under the sign of austerity and authoritarism.
Particularly the police violence against social movement is not reported
at all in the english speaking media - the only reference I found was
from the Guardian:
www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jun/07/french-police-violence-labour-law-protests-watchdog.
We, a group of academicals and activists from Berlin, launched an
international online petition today, who got in less than 12 hours more
than 1000 signatures, plus 150 first signatories from 18 countries among
which Susan George, David Harvey, Didier Fassin...
Here the link of the petition:
https://www.change.org/p/manuel-valls-for-the-right-to-demonstrate-and-against-police-violence-in-france.
You can read in this text more detailed informations about the situation
in France, and switch to the numerous YouTube video that testify of
police brutality.
Please, sign, share and care about it! French demonstrators needs your
international solidarity!
Best regards from Berlin,
Mélina Germes
