ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST (Whisky and Gin) – 8 months fixed term

There is an opportunity for a short term Assistant Archivist position working in the Scotch Whisky archives of John Dewar & Sons Ltd, which includes the archives of The Bombay Spirits Company Ltd.
This heavily used archive is the backbone of the Dewar’s Scotch Whisky brand, and includes the collections of five single malt distilleries as well as William Lawson’s Whisky, Bombay Gin and Eristoff Vodka.
Contract: 8 months fixed term, full-time with the possibility of an extension
Salary: Based on £22,500 – £24,000 pro rata
Location: John Dewar & Sons, 1700 London Road, Glasgow, G32 8XR.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a degree in archive studies
Other skills: Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence
The position is suitable for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who is able to work both independently and within a team. Duties will include re-organising and cataloguing the Bombay Gin collection which dates from the 1950s to the present day, and the Scotch Whisky distillery archives. In addition, general duties will include answering enquiries and researching key pieces of brand and company history (both within our own archives and in external archives).
The roll may involve travel to some of our distilleries in the north of Scotland and our gin distillery at Laverstoke in Hampshire. Knowledge of business archives would be an advantage, as would experience of working with marketing departments.
