The Department of Physics & Mathematics at the University of Hull is
seeking applications for a teaching-focussed permanent lectureship
(Assistant Professor), as part of its ambitious plans to deliver a
refreshed physics curriculum, which develops hands-on active learning
and better student engagement. The University of Hull is one of the
oldest in the UK, with a picturesque leafy-green campus and
state-of-the-art teaching facilities. Physics at Hull has expanded
enormously over recent years whilst maintaining outstanding student
satisfaction (100% in the 2015 National Student Survey). Research is
thriving in the department with the recent establishment of the E.A.
Milne Centre for Astrophysics and the forthcoming G.W. Gray Centre for
Advanced Materials.
We are seeking candidates who committed to enhance student learning by
their excellent and innovative teaching and leadership of departmental
teaching initiatives. The successful candidate will have a PhD in
physics and a general knowledge across the undergraduate curriculum as
well as specialised knowledge in any area of physics. An interest in
developing pedagogical projects to enhance student experience is also
required.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to engage with an exceptional
student body, in an environment of excellent collegiality and with a
clear career progression route.
