This position constitutes a unique opportunity to join a multidisciplinary research team for the development of predictive biomarkers of degenerative disease progression, more specifically in the field of Alzheimer's disease, using Electroencephalography and Magnetoencephalography (EEG‐MEG).
The LIBERATE project is a collaboration between the IM2A (Institute of Memory and Alzheimer’s Disease) and the MEG‐EEG Center of the ICM, at the Pitié‐Salpêtrière University Hospital in Paris. The IM2A is a major European center for clinical research in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative dementias, closely connected to the IHU‐A‐ICM and the ICM.
The Candidate will be in charge of high‐density EEG data analysis acquired both during a functional memory task and during resting state. He/she will carry out all stages of the analysis, from pre‐processing to advanced data analyses, including the analysis of event‐related responses, oscillatory activities, as well as data mining, modeling, and functional brain network evaluation. The analyses will use the tools developed by the project team (MEG‐EEG Center and IM2A). The goal is to discover reliable biomarkers reflecting the characteristics of the global dynamics of the brain networks and to associate them with other markers derived from multimodal data acquired within the same subject populations, in order to better understand the mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease ‐ starting from the first deviations from normal ageing, through early pre‐symptomatic and pre‐clinical stages, up to the clinical progression to dementia.
The Candidate will work in close collaboration with the members of the LIBERATE project team including a research engineer in charge of the development of new data analysis methods and statistical approaches, which are best suited for the unique set of available data.
The main activities of the candidate will be:
‐ To develop and implement a pipeline for the analysis of the large EEG data set available ‐ from the pre‐processing stages to the network connectivity analysis, including memory‐task‐related‐ and resting‐state data.
‐ To contribute to the implementation of innovative methods for the characterization of brain network neurodynamics (space‐time‐frequency characteristics, functional or effective connectivity) at all stages of the Alzheimer's disease, in interaction with an energetic multi‐disciplinary team and with the ultimate goal of the integration of large‐scale multimodal data (genetic, PET‐amyloid, DTI, MRI, etc).
‐ To write the scientific publications on the EEG‐MEG results and to contribute to the scientific publications from the related projects of other team members.
‐ To prepare progress reports and to interact closely with the project members.
Required Education, Experience, Expertise, and Skills
Required level of education:
‐ A doctorate in the field of cognitive neuroscience and/or EEG‐MEG brain imaging, obtained in the past 0 to 3 years Required expertise:
‐ Knowledge and advanced expertise in cognitive neuroscience research methods and tools, particularly in the field of EEG
and / or MEG.
‐ Good command of the scientific programming languages MATLAB and Python as part of the analysis of experimental
‐ Good knowledge in applied mathematics and statistics.
‐ Previous experience with EEG and / or MEG data analysis, including at least experience with time‐frequency analysis and
source modeling analysis. Additional experience with functional and / or effective connectivity analysis will be a plus.
‐ Having published scientific articles in refereed international scholarly journals with high‐level of peer review.
‐ Ability to work with rigor, diligence, and precision.

‐ Curiosity and openness for research fields other than own specialization, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
‐ Ability to acquire rapidly new skills and knowledge
