It's that time of year again! Students are racing to get their dissertations finished and we're gearing up to mark them. A plea - if you come across any dissertations related to health information or if you’ve supervised a student looking at an aspect of health information then please drop me a line. I edit the regular feature called ‘Dissertations into practice’ for the Health Information and Libraries Journal (HILJ) and I’m currently on the lookout for articles for 2017. So far we've published work from graduates from Aberystwyth, City, Northumbria, Sheffield and York as well as Panjab University in India and my own institution – Brighton. The feature remains one of the journal’s strong points and the students who’ve had articles published have been delighted with their achievement. I welcome a broad range of topics and so far this has included lis services in the NHS and academia, health information provision in public libraries, using social media for health information and more. The thinking behind the feature is to encourage students and recent graduates to write for publication and to highlight the potential impact of student research for practice. Articles are often co-written with a dissertation supervisor and sometimes with a workplace supervisor. There are guidelines for the student authors and I give them a lot of editorial support along the way. So if you know of a project which you think might fit please let me know.
thanks,
Audrey
