Dear Colleagues,
Samuel A. Bowring is a giant in our understanding of crustal development and faunal evolution. In addition to his definitive geochronological and isotopic studies in Laurentia, his calibration of Phanerozoic evolutionary and extinction events through the use of ID-TIMS, and his long-standing interest in arcs, batholiths, and continental crust have added immeasurably to our understanding of Earth history.
We invite to submit an abstract to a special session in his honor at the 2016 GSA Annual Meeting in Denver, 25-28 September. The abstract deadline is July 12, and the submission webpage is at:

Session T227: Time Matters: Celebrating the Scientific Legacy of Samuel A. Bowring
Description: This session will focus on recent advances in geochronology, timescale calibration, mass extinctions, magmatic arcs, and evolution of continental crust.
We thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to seeing you in Denver!
With sincerest regards on behalf of the conveners,
