Using HNCO as root made my life much easier. Thanks also for the article.
I was not able to open the N/C planes. In any case, my spectrums are not so complicated and I could resolve the few problematic cases.
For the record, what I have done is the following:
1. Peackpick HN-HSQC, only as a reference.
2. Peackpick HNCO. Check manually, comparing with HN-HSQC.
3. Initialise root resonances on HNCO. Check new spin systems manually.
4. Assign HN-HSQC from roots.
HN-HSQC overlapped signals are now single peaks assigned with H,N resonances from 2 different spin systems, each corresponding a different root peak in the HNCO spectrum. Since all spin systems are now created, I guess everything should work OK when assigning the rest of the spectra.
