LIVINGMAPS SEMINAR June 22nd, 18.00-20.00
Community mapping and citizen social science
The advent of open source mapping
technologies has in principle created the conditions for the emergence of
a popular do - it - yourself cartography articulating the concerns,
political and personal , of all citizens. In this seminar we have brought
together some leading practitioners who have pioneered the
contribution of map making to the development of citizen social science,
developed participatory methods of community mapping , and
explored the limits and conditions of democratising the production of knowledge
in and against the urban planning process.
