The Centre for Cancer Prevention in central London is at the forefront of international research into the prevention and control of cancer. We have particularly active research programmes in breast, endometrial, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer prevention, cancer screening and statistical methods for clinical trials and epidemiology.
Applications are invited for a Bioinformatician to provide support for genomics and epigenomics projects undertaken within the Bioinformatics Team in the Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory.
Applicants must have a good degree, and ideally a postgraduate qualification, in a scientific or mathematical subject. Applicants should also be experienced in machine learning and high throughput experimental data analysis, such as methylation array or microarray and next-generation sequencing data. Knowledge and experience in using programming language, Perl or Python and R in a Linux HPC environment will be required. Candidates will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interpret their work to non-bioinformaticians. Experience of additional programming languages such as Java or C/C++ and knowledge of epidemiological or clinical trial methodology would be advantageous.
The post is full time and fixed term for 24 months. The starting salary will be £32,052 per annum including London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
