This free event is kindly sponsored by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, the Faculty of Science and Engineering in UL, the Synthesis and Solid State Pharmaceutical Centre (SSPC) and MACSI.
The aim of this event is to celebrate women across all the mathematical sciences and to provide a networking platform to meet and talk with women who are active and successful in mathematics.
The day will include esteemed national and international speakers from academia and industry including Dr. Bethany Bray, Penn State University, Dr. Joanna Jordan, University of Bath, Dr John Nelson University of Limerick, Dr. Ann O’Shea, Maynooth University and Dr. Edel O’Connell, Regeneron.
Attendees are invited to participate in an interactive discussion and breakout session, which aims to develop practical solutions to overcome some barriers facing gender balance within the mathematical sciences. The results of this session will hopefully inform actions to support and improve gender balance across all career levels and sectors.
The event is open to all who are interested in progressing gender balance across careers within the mathematical sciences regardless of gender, sector or career stage. Previous events held in NUI Galway and University of Limerick were attended by people working in academia, industry, education and policy.
