This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical statistician/data manager who is keen to develop a career in the growing field of health care performance assessment.
The Lindsay Stewart Centre for Audit and Clinical Informatics at the RCOG is seeking to appoint an experienced statistician/data manager to be part of a multidisciplinary team of staff conducting the new National Maternity and Perinatal Audit.
The National Maternity and Perinatal Audit will evaluate the quality of care received by women and newborns cared for by NHS maternity services in England, Wales and Scotland. Its aim is to compares the care provided and outcomes achieved by these units across a range of audit measures.
The role will involve designing and implementing statistical analyses and supporting the Audit’s data manager in managing and organising the linked national datasets. Another important task will be responding to information governance issues and further developing the secure environment for handling and analyse these datasets.
The post is offered full-time (35 hours per week) for 3 years with a possibility of extension. The salary will be between £33,091 and 39,701 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will have:
-excellent statistical skills
-experience of undertaking statistical analyses using large datasets
-experience of working within a multidisciplinary context
-an interest in health care performance assessment and quality improvement
-a Bachelor level degree in a quantitative discipline
-knowledge of data protection and information security principles
This post will be based in the Lindsay Stewart Centre for Audit and Clinical Informatics at the RCOG and also have an honorary appointment at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The Centre’s remit is to support quality improvement within the specialty by carrying out high-quality national audits and developing and publishing national performance indicators for obstetrics and gynaecology.
The post is offered full-time for 3 years, with a possibility of extension. The salary will be between £33,091 and 39,701 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
