3 PhD Studentships in Medical Statistics, Epidemiology and Clinical Trials Methodology
Tuition Fees + Stipend starting at £16,296 per annum
Three full-time MRC-funded PhD studentships are available at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL in the ICTM, commencing September 2016 (or later by agreement). The studentships cover UK/EU tuition fees and a tax-free maintenance stipend over three years. In the first year the stipend is £16,296.
Each student will study one of the following projects, or a related project to be negotiated with potential supervisors at the Unit:
Extending the multi-arm multi-stage trial design
Improving the collection, analysis, and reporting of safety data in phase III clinical trials
Future-proofing academic clinical trials to adapt for regulatory use
Optimal cluster randomised trial designs and realistic sample size calculations
The cascade of care for children living with HIV in rural South Africa
These projects will all allow the student to develop skills in the analysis of data in medical research. The projects differ in terms of which further skills will be developed as some will focus more on statistical methods, some more on epidemiological research methods, and others on trial conduct methodology. Further details of each project are available from Dr Andrew Copas ([log in to unmask]) and candidates are strongly encouraged to obtain these detailed descriptions before making their application. Dr Copas is also very happy to discuss any of the projects with potential applicants, and to answer any queries about studying at the Institute.
