Dear CRITTERS
With apologies, I need to request your help in reaching out to biogeographers with the job opportunity below, as I'm struggling to find biogeography mailing lists. I would be grateful if you could forward this to physical geography colleagues who might know of suitable candidates. Sorry for 'using' list members in this way!
Best wishes
Pauline
Job opportunity: Lecturer in Geography at York St John University
Closing date for applications: Thurs 5th May
This is an exciting opportunity for a PhD graduate with expertise in biogeography and GIS. From September 2016 we are expanding to offer BSc Geography and BSc Environmental Geography degrees alongside our BA Human Geography (currently in its second year). The successful candidate will have a central role in this development, joining a small team of enthusiastic, committed staff who are shaping the University’s geography provision.
You will be expected to contribute to a range of modules across all levels of undergraduate provision, with particular responsibilities for the first-year ‘Ecosystems and Biogeography’ module and introductory GIS, and the third-year ‘Habitat Conservation’ and possibly ‘Applied GIS’ modules. Knowledge of ArcGIS software is essential, and familiarity with QGIS is likely to be an advantage.
We would particularly welcome applications from individuals willing to transcend the ‘physical/human divide’ to work collaboratively with colleagues both within and beyond Geography.
